The Rebellion of the English

What has happened to England? It seems to be hell-bent on being the first Western country to self-destruct by ingesting the arsenic of multiculturalism. Every day brings another story that would be a hilarious Monty Python sketch were it not the awful truth.

One example is the recent report of the Labour Party’s Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), which presented a number of politically correct policy recommendations to the government. According to various news reports, these recommendations include:

• Measures to bring more ethnic minorities and disabled individuals into the “largely white” countryside
• The downgrading of Christmas
• Flying flags other than the British
• An “urgent and upfront campaign” to promote a “multicultural understanding of Britishness”

The report, if implemented (and much of it already is) would constitute a knockout blow to England as an ethno-cultural entity; a full diet of post-modern nihilism at every level.

(The IPPR’s Rick Muir denies that they are the Grinch who stole Christmas. But he goes on, in the same breath, to launch a spine-chilling ode to multiculturalism. Not to mention that the other articles on their website are a phantasmagoria of political correctness, such as this gem.)

A while back, in the mid 1990s, an English expatriate remarked to me that “you won’t believe what’s happening there—the entire old world is collapsing.” I thought he was exaggerating. Sure, I knew about the decay spreading throughout the West, but collapsing?

I had lived in London for a couple of years in my youth, and came away with lovely memories of Cockney accents, royal ceremonies, magnificent museums, fish & chips, an idyllic countryside, and unarmed Bobbies. Women and children could safely walk the streets, virtually any time and any place.

What a difference when I returned in 2005 for a stay of several months. London had deteriorated severely, to the point of being almost unrecognizable. Huge tracts of the city had been transformed into Third World slums. A virulent strain of Islam was palpable. The shrinkage in livable neighborhoods contributed to skyrocketing housing costs. Anyone with the means to do so was fleeing to the outlying suburbs (with the exception of a handful of insulated wealthy enclaves, like Chelsea).

The National Health Service, the pride of socialized medicine, was known as a place you go to die; anyone who could afford it bought private health insurance. Crime was spinning out of control, while the police were burdened with an increasing array of hate crimes. Meanwhile, at the ministerial level, they worried about promoting “diversity” among patrolmen.

The Leftist establishment, stronger even than in the U.S., was engaged in a frontal attack on all things English. One example that sticks in my mind was the outlawing of the fox hunt, one of the most visible relics of the “old world,” as my friend had aptly termed it. In general, the poison of multiculturalism flowed through the national veins, steadily demoralizing the population. Many people I spoke to were considering leaving the country, resigned to its seemingly unstoppable decline.

People in England are reaching their breaking point. One wonders when this point will arrive, and whether the full brunt of the state apparatus will be brought to bear to crush the rebellion of the English.

You may be interested to read Hal G. P. Colebatch’s article about this in The American Spectator Online.

Thank you, Kevin Dunn, for bringing that excellent article to my attention. For the benefit of our readers, here is a link.

Your perspicacious piece is a true reflection of what is taking place in ‘England’. But it must be said that the demographic constituency of this once green and pleasant land now means that what was, no longer is. So to talk of the English now is not the same as talking of the English of pre-WWII, the wartime or up to the 1960s. Since then the Gramsci-inspired cultural revolution has destroyed us. Those of us who realised what was going on and tried to counteract it were pilloried because of our stand, and were labelled as ‘racist’ and ‘bigoted’. In our retirement we are regarded as pariahs. Like most civilisations throughout history prosperity leads to laziness and then to hedonism followed by nihilism. Values and tradition are ignored then forgotten. What we gave as a nation to the world over the centuries is now derided. God help our grandchildren, but perhaps they will adapt. England as you describe it no longer exists. Its decline has accelerated rapidly during the past ten years as this egregious administration have surrendered its soverignty and are proud of it. There will be no ‘rebellion’ it is too late. But there may well be a multifactional civil war before too long as the useful idiots wake up to the fact that we are ripe for Dhimmitude as Islamic fascism has its way with us. It understands weakness and will exploit it. This new rise of Mohammedenism will be as disastrous for us as it was for the ancients in the Near East. Moreover, I see worrying signs in the USA, too. Someone should write a study of the Weakness of the West. Mark Steyn has done a good job with America Alone, but in England it has not struck home. Melanie Phillips, our most cogent journalist seems to be the only rational ferocious voice here, but the sleepwalking olde English will not wake up.

No wonder parties like the BNP are rising so much in popularity in europe. Even disorganized, still strongly bigoted organizations can find nothing but success as the few rational policies they have are non-existant in the mainstream. They fill a desperate hole. It’s a really tough situation though, and “white flight” to other nations may be the final nail in the coffin. I hope that more people choose to stay and fight for their homeland. It’s very difficult right now as if you’re anything close to a nationalist in England you are a criminal but I think the more people that take the plunge the easier it’ll get. Need to throw the weight around.

HELLO! Is anyone out there listening”? What will it take for us to see the writing on the wall and finally wake up to the parallels taking place with such things as the proposed immigration policies here in the good old PCA. Or have we all been lulled to believe that “it can’t happen here!”

    There is hope.

We just hope we are in time.

I would prefer not to be named as I am a government employee. Just call me Tommy.

I am old and do not have many years left but I hear from the so called ethnic minorities in England that they too are worried by immigration. Unfortunately a great many are now coming from eastern Europe and have no intention of working. They are housed and cared for at the expenses of the state which gets it’s money from the people via taxes.
Unfortunately in our “two” party system both parties are extremely PC. The majority of newcomers are now Muslim and their behavior in their own countries seems to be that of uninhibited violence. If they had a culture where they had to work to feed themselves they wouldn’t have the time to demonstrate.
Many years ago the Politician Enoch Powell spoke about “rivers of blood” and was ostracized for his views regarding immigration but I and many others are much afraid that this will come to pass.
